The goal is to be able to quickly, and easily edit designs without having to start from scratch allowing you to improve quality and consistency.”

Time is a valuable commodity, and by using a modular template design you can save a ton of time when designing your emails to send to subscribers. These templates are usually achieved in a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor, which allows you to move sections of the email in real time.
